YOUTH ACHIEVERS
Our Youth Achievers Program is an academic achievement & career development initiative to help teens develop to their fullest potential. Our objectives are to help youth view themselves in a positive way, raise academic standards, build character, show teens various career options, interaction with business professionals and have role models whose success and knowledge will help inspire and motivate.
Youth Achievers Program activities focus on time management, interviewing techniques, financial management, team-building, field trips, community service learning projects, career assessment and more. It strongly incorporates the 40 developmental Assets critical factors for the successful growth and development of young people - and centers around the relationships between adult professional mentors and teens.
Our curriculum consists of five major components:
College Readiness - Career Exploration - Leadership Development – Toastmasters - Mentoring
At Youth Achievers Foundation, we know that community and corporate involvement is critical to building networks and opportunities for youth. To that end, our program centers on the relationship established between volunteer mentors and youth, with an emphasis on career clusters. Clusters are workshops dedicated to specific areas of professional interest. Youth participants and mentors, who are experts in their field, complete projects that are designed to provide students with an opportunity to explore their career interests through real-life application of skills.
Career clusters held monthly include: Arts/Entertainment, Business/Entrepreneurship, Engineering/Technology, Health/Medicine and Law/Government.
The Achievers Program is free and open to all teens, grades 8-12. Open enrollment takes place in December of each year. Sessions are held December through August, on the first and third Tuesday of each month from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Youth Achievers Foundation.
Youth Achievers Foundation will host the Annual Salute to Adult Achievers in Industry Awards Ceremony in March of 2016. The event pays tribute to excellence in corporate leadership and community service by adult achievers in industry and serves as a platform for the YAF, corporations, and local organizations to partner and provide mentoring programs, scholarships, and other opportunities. These collective efforts are helping the young people of North County of St. Louis communities grow to be tomorrow’s leaders.
